Our Story
In November 2016, Rich and Caroline’s relationship began as most 21st century couples’ relationships do… with a dating app. After messaging back and forth on the app about seasonally appropriate topics like their go-to Friendsgiving offerings— Mac ’n cheese for her, tuna noodle casserole for him— and differences between American and Canadian Thanksgivings— Americans enjoy a sweeter version of pumpkin pie on the fourth Thursday of November while Canadians indulge in poutine on the first Monday of October— Rich asked Caroline if she’d like to go on a date…
At 7pm the following Wednesday, they met at The Betty, a now-defunct cocktail bar in the trendy West Loop neighborhood of Chicago, and shared arancini, beer, and their life stories… not realizing that several hours had passed while they were getting to know one another. After dates two (standup comedy at Zanies, a nightcap, and nachos at the bar across the street) and three (a chilly stroll around the Christkindle Market, a showing of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and cocktails at The Watershed) they knew that there was something special between them…
In the years since they started dating, they’ve travelled around the world, adopted a dog who has practically become their world, and enjoyed too many good times to list. In June 2019, Rich proposed to Caroline at his family's winery in Canada; he made the day even more special by secretly making plans so that her parents and five younger brothers were all in attendance!
We are so excited to see everyone in St. Louis this September and cannot wait to celebrate the big day with everyone!
